Alexandria, Virginia High School
At an Alexandria, Virginia high school, the boys' baseball team plays on a field that the city itself calls the "Field of Dreams." It's well-groomed, fenced in, and has lights, a scoreboard, dugouts, a concession stand, an announcer's box, and nice bleachers. The girls' softball team had a shoddy field with a rusted backstop, no perimeter fence, no dugouts, a scoreboard shared with another field, and no concession or announcer's stand. That wasn't fair! When softball team members and their parents hired a lawyer and complained, the school moved the girls to a better field, but things still are not equal yet. The case is ongoing.
